Watch this space

After a very productive start to 2016, things have quieted down quite a bit. In fact, there has not been much activity at  SciencePrimer over the past few months.

The increased efforts to ship new content I committed to at the beginning of the year exposed inefficiencies in my workflow and problems with the structure of the site. So despite the apparent lack of activity, things have been quite busy behind the scenes.

I spent the better part of the summer retooling my process. After experimenting with a number of coding paradigms and build systems I have settled into a new workflow and am preparing to pick back up with sharing content here on the development blog and on the main site as soon as I can.

I am also in the process of redesign the front end of the site, which has not changed since I launched the site more than five years ago.

The site redesign involves more than refreshing the look of the site. The new site will provide better user experiences by breaking out of the small frame, embeddable illustration model I have been using for the past few years and open the possibility of including animation and interactivity across the entire width and height of each page.

There is still quite a ways to go in terms of getting the site finished and since work on SciencePrimer is a part-time effort on my part, and other work obligations have to take priority, I don’t expect the new site to be up and ready for use until early 2017.

With the refresh and my new, more efficient workflow, I expect 2017 to be SciencePrimers most productive year yet.

So watch this space. There is much more to come.
