Cell cycle draft V 0.5

Lastest version of the Cell Cycle illustration that I have been messing around with for quite a while. This version represents a major change in the way I am thinking of designing the illustrations.

In this version I am trying to take advantage of the whole screen and use scrolling as a navigation tool. When it is finished it will be a series of animated elements that the reader can smoothly scrub through by scrolling up and down the page.

I am still working on making sure the animations and text stay in sync. In my test environment everything stayed in sync, but posting the code to this site threw some of the text out of sync. I will fix the syncing issue in the next version and then add in the cell animation present in draft 0.4.

Follow up

Status V 0.5

  • Stages of the cell cycle diagram animate in as user scrolls the page
  • Some of the text is out of sync with the animated visual elements
  • Descriptive text scrolls up the page in sync with the fading in of the different components of the cycle.
  • Much of the text is placeholder text. Need some refinement

Next Steps

  • Fix the syncing issue that appears after the checkpoint marks are added
  • Refine the text descriptions
  • Add the cell animation (starting when the marker arrow begins to rotate around the cell cycle diagram
  • Still need to add a third element to the illustration showing how cell contents change over the cycle
