Cell cycle draft V 0.3
Third round of edits on the cell cycle overview illustration
Still working on building out the basic components of the illustration. The focus this round was on a cartoon of a cell to demonstrate behavior of the cell during each stage of the cycle. Only the cell outer and nuclear membranes are present in this version. I will add representation of other cellular structures including organelles, chromosomes, and the centrioles
Status of V0.3:
- The information panel and cycle diagram are unchanged from v0.2.
- A simple representation of a cell has been added. The cell:
- Doubles in size during G1, S and G2 (interphase).
- During Mitosis the nuclear membrane breaks down and the cell splits into two cells.
- At the end of mitosis there are two daughter cells. Each is half the size of the cell that divided.
- The cell cartoon is not finished. Need to add other elements (organelles, chromosomes and centriole at the very least)
Next Steps:
- Continue to flesh out the cell cartoon.
- Add a pause function to allow people to stop the cycle.
- Consider adding a speed slider to allow people to control cycle rate
- Continue to work on other types of interactivity (hover popups, togglable labeling options… other?).
