Cell cycle draft V 0.2
A second pass at creating a cell cycle illustration showing the relationship between the stages of the cell cycle.
As with V0.1 the illustration shows a circular diagram containing the 4 stages of the cell cycle (Gap 1, synthesis, gap 2 and mitosis) plus an extra loop for the the quiescent phase some cells enter under the proper conditions.
Status of V0.2
- There is no interactivity in this version.
- A small arrow moves around the cycle and the dialogue box to the right updates with information about the current phase.
- There are faint red arrows at the end of each stage in the cycle. These represent the checkpoints for each transition. These can be used to show conditions under which the cells won't/can't move on to the next phase of the cycle.
I am still working out how much information to provide about each phase. I have also not settled on how best to add interactivity.
Next Steps
- Work on the interactivity that needs to be added to the illustration
- Add a cartoon of a cell that changes with the changing cell cycle.
- Incorporate checkpoints into the cycle so that the cell needs to stay in specific phases when the proper conditions are not met.
